Design Brief
I’ve been asked to create a website for ‘Lancashire Constabulary’ that would promote and make
awareness of hate crime online and in this region. Lancashire Constabulary asked to specifically
outline the hate crime related to disability and race in the website. The intended output for this
website should be:
A Working website with available resources
Increase in knowledge and thought when it comes to online activity and potential outcomes
Increase in referrals to the appropriate authorities
Target Audience
The main target audience are teens and young adults aged between 16-18, that would be seeking
help related to hate crime. The website would provide them with simple ways of how you can
contact the right authorities.
User requirements
An easy to use and understand website that is targeted for young people (16-18).
This site should include, visual, auditory and documented information with appropriate
colour scheme and language style
The website should include information that is easy to access that is user friendly regarding
hate crime related to disability and race. It should be presented in a way that is not
judgmental or bias.
Purpose
The website should an educational reference document and not a platform to report hate crime. It
will act more in a way of being a signpost to official services such as Police, Crimestoppers etc.
Another purpose of this website is to make the users aware of their online activity and how this
could constitute a criminal offence and impact long term employment plans.

about hate-crime and it focuses more on racial and disability hate crimes. This page will also
encourage users to stop hate crime and to not just simply avoid it. It has images and text explaining
on what to do if you see some sort of hate crime.
Hate-Crime – The hate crime web page will contain three main sub headings which are: Race,
Disability and consequences. The main purpose of this web page is to inform users about the hate
crimes and the possible consequences.
Support – The support web page will contain information on what to do if you’re the victim of a hate
crime and a list of option which you can use to report it.
About – The about web page will explain the what is the main purpose of this website and why it
focuses mainly on racial and disability hate crimes.
