The U.S. is one of the largest administrative bodies in global business. Among them are
also the European and Asian administrative bodies. Traditionally, international law regulated
disputes between individuals and foreign states, but now scholars have put more emphasis in the
field of Global Administrative Law; in which many areas of international law function somewhat
similar to domestic law systems (Hepburn, 2012). This paper will discuss and analyze the
administrative bodies in Europe and Asia that regulate business in countries in those regions; and
will discuss the rulemaking power of these foreign administrative bodies and their influence on
U.S. global business.
Administrative Bodies in Europe
The European Union is one of the most unique political actors in the international system
and a key player in global affairs (Irimie, 2014). The five fundamental administrative bodies of
the European Union are: The European Parliament, European Council, the Council of the
European Union, European Commission, and the Court of Justice of the European Union. Based
on these administrative bodies the European Union has a distinctive institutional setup. The
European council is able to set the European Union’s priorities and is able to bring together
European Union leaders as well as national ones, yet it does not have the power to pass any laws.
The European Parliament, the Council of the European Union, and the European
Commission are part of the European Union’s legislation. The European Parliament is the
