De titel van het boek is ‘Bint’. De titel verwijst naar een belangrijke personage uit het boek namelijk
de directeur van de school, meneer Bint. “De directeur tutoyeerde ongevraagd, niet uit familiariteit,
uit gezag. De Bree merkte het nauwelijks op. Bint zei, wijzend omlaag: ‘Je eerste les is in die klas. Die
klas is uniek.” (blz. 92) Het gehele boek draait in feite om de ideologie van meneer Bint en zijn
toepassing van deze ideologie op de manier waarop hij de school heeft ingericht. Het boek heeft ook
nog een ondertitel namelijk ‘Roman van een zender’. Dit betekent dat hij de zender is en dat er dan
ook nog een ontvanger moet zijn. Wie de ontvanger is wordt duidelijk in het motto.
