The Yerkes-Dodson law: this law states that performance increases as arousal
increase.
Stress increases to moderate level of arousal = performance reaches optimal lev
When arousal increases beyond this level = performances starts to decrease.
Performance is low when arousal is low.
As arousal level increases, the person is more alert, reaction speed & concentrati
is improved.
If arousal levels increase beyond this level, the person becomes over stimulated
overly tense & loses concentration.

Diseases start and develop in the presence of stress.
Chronic stress (prolonged periods of stress) or repeated stress can be harmful
physical health.
Chronic stress may lead to psychosomatic disease.
Psychosomatic disease = psychological factors contribute to physical damage i
the body. (psyche = mind, soma = body).
Stress is not the only cause of psychosomatic diseases.
