De plaats van de kine in de gezondheidszorg situeert zich op verschillende domeinen.
- Domein van de revalidatie.
o Zieke of gewonde patiënt begeleiden naar herstel (volledig of gedeeltelijk).

o Maatregelen treffen waardoor er geen letsel ontstaat, vermijden dat het letsel

Een kine focust zich vooral op het belang van bewegen voor herstel en het voorkomen van
verschillende letsels en ziekten.
2 – Ziekte en gezondheid
2.1 – Definities
Gezondheid
‘Gezondheid is een toestand van volkomen lichamelijk, geestelijk en sociaal welzijn.’
- Het is dus niet enkel de afwezigheid van ziekte of letsels.
- Het is geen ja-neevraag of ‘alles of niets’ fenomeen.
Het menselijk lichaam is in voortdurende evolutie en zal tijdens het leven steeds een aantal afbraak-
en opbouwprocessen ondergaan, die continu geregeld worden.
- = homeostase.
Gezondheid veronderstelt dus een dynamisch proces.
Een persoon is ‘meer gezond’ naarmate hij beter in staat is om bij inwerkende stress de homeostase
in zijn lichaam te bewaren en/of te herstellen.
Ziekte
Ziekte is de afwijking van een normale functie of structuur van het lichaam.
- Gekenmerkt door symptomen, etiologie, pathogenese, prognose, …
In deze definitie zijn er het begrip afwijking en het begrip normaliteit van belang.
1. De statistisch normale:
o We nemen het gemiddelde van de resultaten binnen een populatie.
o De waarden omvat door het gemiddelde + of – 2 standaarddeviaties omvat 95% van
de totale populatie.
▪ De uiterste waarden worden als statistisch afwijkend beschouwd.
2. De normatief normale:
o Er wordt een welbepaalde waarde, die als ‘optimaal’ beschouwd wordt, als norm
voorgesteld.
▪ Deze waarde wijkt vaak af van het statistisch gemiddelde.
o Verschillende factoren kunnen deze normaliteit beïnvloeden (leeftijd, geslacht,
variatie, …).
