Played by Colin Firth as Harry Hart, code named Galahad, Kingsman follows the
story of a former spy’s son in his journey to becoming a spy under the supervision of
Hart. Featuring highly trained British gentlemen primed for action the film explores
the action genre through the Bond-like British spy fashion and style. Two men of
different age sets, one in his middle age and the other a young man starting out in the
spy game are used to satisfy the two target audiences of the film. The over 25 year
olds who identify with Hart and the below 24 year olds who see themselves in
Eggsy’s novice endeavors. As a hybrid of British spy and action genres, the film
extensively exploits the all too common satirical extremes of bond films while
introducing the hyperbole and classy violence of its own.
While mostly considered to be an action genre film by most critiques, Kingsman
is both an action and spy film that manages to retain both in equal measure. This is
expressed from the onset of the movie. At the beginning of the film, a young member
of the agency dies in the line of duty while trying to protect his teammates from being
killed by a bomb. Apparently, the bomb is detonated by a terrorist that they try to
obtain information from concerning terrorist activities in the Middle East. This
