Een vreemde discipline, de sociologische manier van denken in de samenleving niet
vanzelf gaat. Het is een andere manier van denken. Het gaat over de systematische
manier van denken.
De meeste mensen denken dat onze individuele eigenschappen alles bepalen.

Sociologisch denken probeert de complexiteit van de samenleving inzichtelijk te maken.
Het probeert het bestaande te overstijgen en je hieraan te ontworstelen.

Als je sociologie moet uitleggen benoem je twee dingen:
1. Je benoemt dat het een wetenschap is; dat is namelijk wat sociologen beweren.
2. Wat bestuderen sociologen? Zij bestuderen de maatschappij, mensenmaatschappij,
sociale structuren, sociale relaties en sociale netwerken.
3. De wetenschap van de manieren waarop mensen met elkaar samenleven.
Het terrein van de sociologie kan met een woord worden aangeduid, namelijk het woord
‘sociaal’.
Sociaal: heeft een ruime betekenis.
Het sociale gaat in de sociologie over alles wat zich tussen mensen afspeelt en alles
wat mensen met elkaar verbindt.
Dus niet alleen gezelschap, menslievend, aardig etc.
Het is ook conflict, ruzie, competitie en dwang.
