young professionals, travelers, college students, fashion-forward individuals. It will cater to

consumers that want eyewear they can wear to give a more ‘professional’ look and at the same

time look stylish and also those consumers who want eyewear that goes with their style. The

business will be carried out primarily online from the business website. Customers will be able to

visit the page, see the available products and select the products they are interested in to

purchase. The glasses will be affordable, trendy styles that can be worn any day and are

multipurpose. This way, it will attract customers who do not necessarily have a large disposable

income but still want to look stylish and fashionable.


The market for eyewear is quite expansive and can be broken into different sectors. It is

segmented based on product type, end user, mode of sale and geography. By product type, the

market is segmented into prescription glasses/spectacles, sunglasses and contact lenses. End

users include women and men, and the mode of sale is comprised of retail and online stores.Key

competitors in this industry include Ray-Ban, Eyebuy direct, Lens crafters, Warby Parker,

Fashion.For the purpose of this paper, I will use Warby Parker as my competitor. The company

was established in 2011 and founded by MBA graduates that set out to revolutionize the eyewear

industry and create a more affordable, accessible, socially conscious business. They were able to

circumvent the existing traditional brick and mortar business model for selling eyewear and

move to a simpler, more direct and accessible means to purchase eyewear online. Some of their

strengths include;

for most of their eyewear which is a competitive price as it is cheaper than the usual $120
