The involvement of federal and state agencies within the United States have been able to
regulate the vaccination laws which has brought vaccine-preventable disease levels to an all-time
record low. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) operates directly with public health agencies
as well as with private partners to advance and support coverage for immunizations and to
survey the safety of vaccines. In order to keep vaccine-preventable diseases low, vaccine laws
have been implemented. All states have laws and regulations in accordance with these vaccine
laws. These vaccine regulations require individuals to obtain vaccines during early childhood,
daycare, school-age, college, and even healthcare workers and patients who are in particular
environments or facilities (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2018).
Introduction
One of the most cost-effective and successful public health efforts and intervention with
prevention of disease outbreaks in the United States begins with infant and child immunizations.
The protection immunizations provide extends beyond just the individual, it provides protection
for the U.S. population as a whole, especially to those individuals who are immunocompromised,
and vaccines are not an option. All states require children to obtain particular vaccinations prior
to the start of school, however, there are stipulations present in states where exemptions do exist.
These exemptions include medical, religious, and philosophical reasons. These exemptions
contradict the U.S. governments efforts, which federally mandates a vaccine schedule to be
followed and achieved in order to maintain mass immunity.
The state legislators are obligated to provide equality without bias in order to protect the
health of the public against the obstacles involved with how vaccines will be funded. The
