Grammatica:Wanneer gebruik je de present simple?
We gebruiken de present simple als we het hebben over:
- feiten,
- gewoonten.
- en dingen die we met regelmaat doen.
- dingen met zintuigen
- bij ww die een geestelijke staat of voorkeur aangeven
- vaste tijden zoals aankomst en vertrek
- na sommige ww die naar de toekomst wijzen
Vaak staan er in een zin signaalwoorden. Dat zijn woorden die het signaal afgeven
dat de zin in de present simple, oftewel in de tegenwoordige tijd staat,
bijvoorbeeld: always, never, frequently, often, sometimes, seldom, on Saturdays, in
the weekend, during the week.
Hoe maak je de present simple?
we voegen een -s toe indien je een werkwoord gebruikt in de 3e persoon
enkelvoud: He swims, My sister plays hockey, My brother loves his son. Je kunt dit
onthouden met de shit-regel. In het woord shit zit namelijk She, He en IT, alles
binnen de 3e persoon enkelvoud:
- she --> she swims fast.
- he --> he swims fast.
- it --> it swims fast.
In alle andere gevallen gebruik je gewoon het hele werkwoord (ook wel
de stam genoemd):
- to run --> They run across the street.
- to speak --> You speak very well.
- to see --> I see him over there.
Hieronder zie je nog een keer duidelijk het verschil:
- I love our dog.
- He loves our dog.
- I sing my favourite song every day.
- Susan sings her favourite song every day.
