In the transitional care scenario, the facility has been experiencing many issues in
regard to unfair discipline where staff feel as if they are being singled out (Transitional Care. n.d)
Like in every organization, issues will always arise however, it does feel a little more intense in
the health care field given the line of work is overall demanding and stressful itself. The Human
Resource department as decided to resolve the issue, with that they must review the problem and
create a revised policy. When recreating or revising an organizations policy a memo must be sent
to the CEO in order to make any permanent changes. In this case the HR department will create a
memo of their thoughts and opinions on the matter and send it to the CEO for acceptance.
Memo
It has been brought to my attention that staff members in our facility have expressed
some concerns in regard to our facilities discipline policy. Their concerns are against
management and how they could be playing favoritism and singling out certain staff for
progressive discipline and corrective actions. Per other staff members aware of the situation have
expressed that the facilities policy is ineffective given that it has not been revised and updated in
many years (Transitional Care. n.d) In my opinion, I carefully reviewed and considered the
current policy and can easily see that it is fairly outdated and could use some very needed
changes.
Our staff members have felt that the outdated policy does not meet the necessary
disciplinary actions needed which causes them to feel that their treatment is being handled
unfair. Overall, this kind of emotions within a workplace can highly discourage our staff
members and begin to feel that they are being unvalued and unappreciated. Not to mention this
can also allow for unneeded stress on staff members which then will fall on their work ethic and
lastly fall on the company’s prideful vision and mission to our patients and staff. Updating our
