Would have liked page references, are all the answers correct?
By: TheDistinctionStudent • 3 year ago
Dear Harold,
Thank you for your feedback. You will see from the first 8 questions that Stuvia allow you to see that I have not added page references. The reason for that is because the exam tests your understanding of various aspects explained throughout the textbook. Thus, it is un-pinpointable. I got 93% with these answers. Thus, 93% are correct

To determine the construct validity of the Differential Aptitude Test (DAT) it is correlated with the
Learning Potential Computerised Adaptive Test (LPCAT) and the 16 Factor Personality Questionnaire
(16PF). Suppose the correlations with both the LPCAT and the 16PF are high. This implies that the
DAT shows…
A. high convergent but low discriminant validity
B. high convergent and discriminant validity
C. low convergent and discriminant validity
D. low convergent but high discriminant validity
ANSWER: A
QUESTION 2
A cognitive test is being translated from English to Afrikaans. The forward-translation design is
followed and a group of bilingual experts will compare the source and the target versions of the
measure. Thereafter the source version of the test will be administered to source language
monolinguals and the target version to target language monolinguals to determine the equivalence
of these versions.
Which of the following is an advantage of administering the questionnaire to source and target
language monolinguals?
A. the results are generalizable to the respective populations
B. source and target language monolinguals have to be matched
C. two different samples of test takers are compared
D. scores may be confounded by real differences in the ability of the groups
ANSWER: A
QUESTION 3
In the case of a norm-referenced test the individual’s performance is…
A. expressed as a percentage
B. interpreted in terms of the performance of a representative group
C. compared to a criterion or standard of performance
D. normally distributed

Suppose that the item-total correlation of one of the items in the General Scholastic Aptitude Test
(GSAT) Senior is -0.50. This item is not applicable for this age group because…
A. the item does not discriminate between high and low total scores
B. more people who did well answered the item correctly
C. the item is too difficult for this age group
D. more people who did poorly answered the item correctly
ANSWER: D
QUESTION 5
A researcher evaluated the psychometric properties of a personality questionnaire for young adults
consisting of six subscales. The Cronbach’s Alpha coefficients ranged between 0.84 and 0.92 for the
six subscales of the questionnaire and the test-retest coefficients ranged between 0.42 and 0.52 for
the six subscales.
‘The questionnaire will provide reliable indications of personality for young adults over a period of
time.’
This statement is…
A. false, the subscales are not equivalent
B. true, the items in each subscale are related
C. true, the measure has criterion-related validity
D. false, the measure is not stable over occasions
ANSWER: D

A banking group developed the Financial Integrity Test to be used as part of their selection battery.
Selection is based on the assumption that the construct (integrity) will remain consistent once a
candidate has been appointed. The psychologist who is responsible for the selection process, checks
the test-retest reliability coefficient of the test and finds that it is 0.85. To prevent cheating when
testing large groups of candidates, the psychologist also obtains an alternative form of the integrity
test from the test developers. The alternative form reliability coefficient (i.e. the correlation
between the original test and the alternative form) is 0.54.
Is the value of the test-retest reliability coefficient acceptable in this context? Order the following
statements from MOST correct to LEAST correct:
(a) It is not acceptable because the test will only be used in a group context.
(b) Decisions will be made about individuals and the value is too low for this.
(c) The value is acceptable because this test can be grouped with personality tests.
A. (c) (a) (b)
B. (a) (b) (c)
C. (c) (b) (a)
D. (b) (a) (c)
ANSWER: C

C. it assesses developing skills required by one’s particular environment
D. performance on these tests tend to correlate well with academic performance
ANSWER: D
