Weather report audio- text
“Let’s take a look at the weather forecast now. I’m delighted to say we got a new member of our weather team tonight, let me hand over to him now, Your Highness.”- News
reporter.
“Well it’s an unsettled picture as we head towards the end of the week. This afternoon it will be cold wet and windy across most of Scotland. We’re under the influence of low
pressure and this weather front pushing Northwards, is bringing cloud and outbreaks of rain. The rain, of course, will be heaviest over the borders and around Edinburgh,
where it could lead to difficult conditions on the roads. In the West rain will be light and patchy, there will, may be a few dry interludes over Dumfries House in Ayrshire. There
will be snow for the higher ground of the Highlands and Aberdeenshire. The potential for a few flurries over Balmoral, who the hell wrote this script, as the afternoon goes on.
The rest of the drier and brighter weather will, of course, be over the Northern Isles and the far North of the Mainland, so a little hazy sunshine for the Castle of Mey in
Caithness, but a cold air everywhere with temperatures of just 8 Celsius and a brisk North Easterly wind. Thank goodness it is not a bank holiday.”- Prince Charles

Please include a rationale for why you have chosen this authentic material (approximately 100 words):
I have chosen this recording because it is not a normal weather report, it is a report that was presented by Prince Charles, who has a very strong British accent.
The students are at an upper-intermediate level and a casual weather report may not be challenging enough for them. The accent and grammatical structure in
the recording is not that of a normal English dialect and this should pose as a good challenge for the group of students. There is a bit of humour as well, which
keeps the lesson light-hearted.
