The five categorical strengths identified about me from the Clifton Strength assessment were Relator, Command, Intellection, Deliberative, and Adaptability. Per the strength test, my attitude towards relationships leans more towards the Relator theme.
As a Relator, I am pulled more towards people that I already know. It doesn’t mean I will avoid meeting new people, but I find more pleasure and strength from being around close friends and family. Once I make the initial connection with a person, I am inclined to understand his/her feelings, goals, fears, and dreams, and help them understand mine. As a leader, my Relator theme allows for deeper connections with my employees. Allowing for a stronger sense of trust going both directions and a better path to effective communication. I am more inclined to help my team establish connections and relationships with other coworkers and expanding our team’s trust to everyone included (Gallup, n.d.).
My strength for influence follows the Command theme. I am not afraid to step up and take charge in any situation. I am comfortable with imposing my views on others and align them with my views and beliefs. Confrontation is a necessity to find a resolution and I am not afraid to tell the truth as is. Confrontation does not bring me discomfort. I encourage people to be honest with those around them and push them to take risks. People tend to be intimidated by me but are often
willing to give me the reins. People are drawn to me because of my presence and powerful standing. Having a strong Command theme will allow me to lead my team effectively through making decisions and providing emotional clarify. I shine light on uncomfortable or avoided subjects and offer the ability to resolve conflicts and misunderstandings quickly and efficiently. I
will be able to lead my team out of their comfort zone and take risks to pursue advancement and C200 Task 1 Page 2 of 8
other opportunities. I can use my persuasion skills to fight for what my team needs to be effective at their roles (Gallup, n.d.)
My third theme for Strategic Thinking is Intellection. To sum it up, I like to think, and I like metal activities. Although this theme does not define what I think about, it states that I like to think about many things. Too much thinking could lead to a lack of focus, however, I can lean on
my other themes to help guide my thinking. I enjoy my time alone to think and answer my own questions. My constant thinking and introspection are one of the contestants in my life. As an Intellection, I can act as a “sounding board” for my team, allowing them to find new and better ways to solve problems and enhance the quality of day-to-day work (Gallup, n.d.). My fourth team for Executing is Deliberative. I like to be careful, vigilant and private. I like to identify potentials risks and draw them out into the open to be analyzed, assessed, and ultimately reduced. I tend to approach life with reserve, and I like to plan to prevent things from going wrong. I believe that life is not a popularity contest, if others do not like me, then so be it. I
like to identify dangers, weigh the relative impact, and plan my next move deliberately. I tend to be a good judge of character and understand people’s actions. I can utilize these skills to help my
team slow down, analyze and further process before jumping into a decision too quickly. I can explain to my team why changes are happening in a more thorough approach and help them see the advantages behind them. I will be a valuable sounding board to my team and help them make
responsible, thought out decisions (Gallup, n.d.).
My fifth theme in Relation Building is Adaptability. I tend to focus more on the present and live in the moment. The future is not a fixed destination but a place where my choices and actions can create. I make my future one choice at a time. I am adaptable to change my plans if/when the time requires it. Unseen detours or changes does not affect me much, and I expect them to happen. Changes are inevitable and cannot be avoided. I can be a very flexible person and focus on high productivity for work, I also look forward to changes and challenges. My
