Introduction
There are many types of financial markets and institutions out there with there own set of
important traits. In this summary I will provide four examples of financial markets, their
importance, and how each brings value to the US and global economy. The four financial
markets I will discuss is capital market, foreign exchange market, Central Banks, and Insurance
Companies.
Capital Market
The capital market is what makes long-term loans possible for any business in our society
and globally. These long-term funds come from the development of stocks and bonds which are
sold to the public in the secondary market. If these businesses were not able to have access to
these funds it would have a drastic affect on our economy because it would decrease the number
of imports and exports that the US would be able to accept. It would also affect the economy
globally because of how much the world depends on the US for many important products they
are unable to produce themselves. These loans help businesses in the US grow to the capabilities
that can meet the world’s needs.
Foreign Exchange Market
The foreign exchange market is with out a doubt the biggest market and specializes in
determining the value of currency. Although, this market is not easily understood and doesn’t
attract investors like the capital or other markets. This market is only used by those who have the
need to value their currency with other countries. “Exporters will have a need to convert the
payments received from an overseas buyer into domestic currency. Likewise, importers will have
