While I was maturing from a child, I observed a lot of external, habitually, and numerous faiths
in families. I grew up in a low-income urban area, even though being born form an African
American mother and father. Being from a multi-faceted family, I had the privilege to learn
about other cultures, religions, and experience other economic statuses. Our family is rich in
tradition(s), whether it’s having respect for your elders, putting education first, always follow
your heart, and lean on the Lord. Its traditions such as these that created and stabilized and
enriched the very fabric of our family heritage. It is these traditional activities that result in us
learning about our heritage, religion and other spirituality’s in the company of our elders. As a
culture we have always been open and willing to listen and learn before making judgment. Our
culture teaches tolerance.
