Important for letter writing:- Write the number of words you have used at the top of your letter. Only count the
words AFTER Dear… and before Yours sincerely, / Kind regards = the body of the
letter.
- Your own name may not be written at the start of your address. You begin with the
street where you live.
- Always end your own address with The Netherlands
- Write the date as follows: 12 May 2015
The name of the month must be written in letters, starting with a CAPITAL letter.
- Remember to use the correct layout.
- Paragraphs: write paragraphs of 3 or 4 lines. If they are too long or too short it looks
bad.
- When practising please leave a blank line below each line of writing so that your
teacher can write corrections.
- Make sure you follow the assignment accurately.
Do not forget anything.
- Write clearly; what your teacher cannot read is counted as a mistake.
- Use your dictionary with care; try to choose words you have seen before so that you
do not write silly things (e.g. We go nasty Amsterdam…………)
- Check your letter before handing it in; make sure you haven’t left any words out.
- Study letters which your teacher has corrected; learn from your mistakes!
- Study model letters and the sentences given by your teacher. Many of these things
come back in lots of letters.
