Engels summary SLAM!This story is about a 16 year old boy named Sam. He loves skating and his big idol is Tony Hawk
(called TH in the book). In his room is a big poster of TH and Sam also has a book that he wrote.
When Sam’s in trouble of when he does something wrong, he asks the poster for advice. The poster
only says little parts of the book TH wrote and it has the ability to send Sam into the future. Sam’s
mom was only 16 years old when Sam was born and he’s never seen his father because his parents
got separated.
When his mom was invited to the party of her colleague, she asked Sam to go with her. There he met
Alicia, the daughter of his moms’ colleague. They start to talk an slowly fall in love with each other.
They decide to go to the movies together and after much dating they get in a relationship.
Sam is very happy. His mother is happy too because she met a new man, mark. Sam often goes to Alicia to
watch TV or make love. But one time it goes wrong, Sams’ condom breaks and there’s a change that Alicia
is pregnant.
Sam is afraid for the consequences and he wants to run away. But leaving Alicia alone was the wrong
choice. So TH send him into the future to show him how it will end. Sam sees that Alicia was indeed
pregnant of a boy named Roof. Sam was everything except happy when he saw Roofs existence.
When TH send him back it was too much for Sam and he ran away to Hastings, which is a district in the
southeast of England. He finds a place where he can live, but he doesn’t have enough money to pay for it.
But an old man in the motel wants to pay for him, but in return for that Sam has to help the old man get
down the stairs. But it is a terrible job so he quit it and decides to go back home.
He went to Alicia and they did a pregnancy test. Sam already knew it was positive because of TH. After
much worrying about the reactions of the parents, they decides to tell them the truth. They also broke up
because they both agreed they weren’t in love anymore.
When Sam came home his mother was happy to see him, but she was also mad because he had ran away.
Mark was also in the house. But he wasn’t in love with Sams’ mother anymore, they were just good
friends. When Sam told his mom the ‘pregnancy news’ she reacted very calm. But Alicias’ parents reacted
very mad, they blamed Sam for it. Sam and Alicia decide to raise Roof together.
After the baby was born they don’t have time for their education anymore. But when the baby is a little
older, Sam decides to go to a part-time college for musicians. TH still sends him into the future
sometimes. When Sam sees he’s doing something wrong in the future, he doesn’t make that mistake
again. He also sees that his mum is pregnant from Mark.
At the end of the book, which is an open ending, Sam will be sent 2 years into the future for the last time.
Alicia and Sam raise Roof together. They both got a new boy- and girlfriend and they go to dinner
together.
