Welcome to the Audio Production 3A Module. This module is pitched at NQF level 7, and
carries 15 credits.
PURPOSE OF THE MODULE
The objective of this module is to provide the student with an understanding of Production and
Arrangements. On completion of the course, the student will be able to work on live
productions.
MODULE OUTCOMES
Display a fundamental foundational understanding of contemporary music.
Display an understanding of contemporary music’s influence on the different genres of
South African music.
Demonstrate the ability to define key aspects of contemporary music production.

Student orientation.
Introduction to this module and weekly timetabling to be explained.
It is of utmost importance that students be aware that it is required to further their
theoretical musical knowledge through the continuation of exercises in ‘Musition’.
The course objectives are to provide students with a practical understanding of sequencing
techniques with relation to production and arrangement.
On completion of this course students will have added production value to apply to live
productions.
Software used for the duration of the course:
Musition – Used to continuously improve music theory and musicianship.
Cubase – To practise the concepts of sequencing (If using another DAW e.g. ProTools the
concepts are the same as long as you have VST’s and midi editors.

The remainder of this part of the unit serves to highlight, revise and test the students’
knowledge on all music related aspects which they learned throughout their 1st and 2nd year
of study. The student’s individual knowledge and understanding of music theory will be
