1.1 plaatsbepaling

volkenrecht.
Internationaal privaatrecht is de tak van het recht die in een internationale situatie zal uitmaken welk
recht van welk land van toepassing is (rechtskeuzerecht), welke rechtbank van welk land bevoegd is,
en hoe andere landen die rechterlijke uitspraak eventueel zullen erkennen en uitvoeren
(internationaal procesrecht).
Het nationaal recht omvat het privaatrecht en het publiekrecht.
Het recht is te vinden in rechtsbronnen. Rechtsbronnen zijn:

- jurisprudentie
- gewoonten
wetten worden gemaakt door de overheid, de centrale overheid (regering en Staten-Generaal) of de
decentrale overheid, zoals provincies en gemeentes.
