Voor de literatuur gelden twee termen:
1. Kahlschlagliteratur: van de (taal in de) literatuur was niets meer over; de nazi’s
hadden deze door hun regelgeving helemaal lamgelegd.
concreet: - geen contact meer met de wereldliteratuur
- de werken van de geëmigreerde schrijvers werd
langzamerhand pas bekend.
2. Trümmerliteratur: de literatuur lag, net als het land zelf, in puin en moest vanuit
de puinhopen weer opgebouwd worden

3. Het verwoeste gezinsleven
