The auteur theory is when the author sees the director of the film. In this film, I will use the
Scarface real-life presentation through the auteur theory lens. By arranging the theory with
editing style, plot structure, sound elements, and overall mise en scene, it is noticeable that
Scarface is a gangster film. This paper will show you how my analysis of cinema has changed
and developed my mindset. Lastly, I will talk about why Scarface has an impact on my society.
Scarface was made in 1983 and directed by Brian De Palma. I believe that Scarface falls
into the drama/crime and also the gangster genre as well. A one-piece that Scarface showed in
his film is how the criminal lifestyle is. In the movie Scarface, there was a scene where Tony
Montana and his brother were both tied up in the bathroom. Montana watched his brother get
killed by the people that had tied them both up in the bathroom. This issue is just one example of
what gangster members had to go through to live that criminal lifestyle.
Scarface is about a man named Tony Montana who moved to Miami, Florida from Cuba.
Montana leaves from Cuba to Miami during the Mariel exodus in 1980. Montana got his green
card in one way, and one way only is by killing off the Cuban government official. Montana
became one of the biggest drug lords in Miami, working for Frank Lopez. His fame eventually
falls because of his war with the Colombians. The Colombians tricked him and wanted to take
the money and keep the cocaine, but Tony didn't make it easy on them. He ended up keeping the
cocaine and the capital. Montana goes to his mother's house to offer his mother and sister 1000
dollars for bills, but his mother was already disappointed in him, so he refuses to take even
though she knows she needs it. Montana then goes to Bolivia to meet with this guy named Sosa.
Tony tells Frank it's time for them to expand the cartel for the nationwide. Frank was not
