that awaits us is limitless.Rosser’s research revealed Plato as believing “The human
soul” is divided into three ways. 1. Cognition as the things we know, 2. Emotion as
the things we feel, and 3—motivation as the things we want (Rosser-Majors, 2017).
When we concentrate more onhow we cultivate knowledge, we can better
accessinformation later when needed by exercising our minds to almost upload it
unconsciously in our memories.
When we considerhow memory development relates to obtaining
newknowledge, we must focus on working memory. Working memory is the system
in our mind that gives us the ability toretain small amounts of information to be
immediately utilized temporarily. I learned through my reading that a well-known
psychologist named Alan Baddeley, discovered“…working memory is a brain system
that provides temporary storage and manipulation of the information necessary for
such complex cognitive tasks as language comprehension, learning, and reasoning”
(Rosser-Majors, 2017). To understand how working memory affects the retention of
knowledge,we candevelop and use processes and tactics to support productive
learning (Rosser-Majors, 2017).
It is essential to move information from short-term memory to long-term
memory successfully.Working memory has a limited capacity being able to hold
about seven items for approximately 20 seconds.Long-term memory is where we
store our schemata, which governs how our information will be categorized and
