Learning Objectives: 1. The student will be able to explore stories, and other expressions of oral
traditions.
2. The student will be able to interpret how oral traditions helped to express important cultural
and historical characteristics.
Activity: African Mask
Materials: recycled toilet paper rolls, pencils, scissors, brown and white paint, plasticine, paper
plates, colored ribbon, colored beads, a hole puncher, and paint brushes/q-tips
Step in creating the African Mask:
Cut out the shape of the mask from one side of the roll and the holes for the eyes.
