UNIT 25 –
M3- Analyse policies, procedures and techniques used in a support role.
All of these policies, procedures and techniques are all efficient in a support role. Employment
responsibilities must be fully understood and checked, this involves and relates to areas such as
health and safety, the right to work in the UK and paid rights. However, this would also include the
workers right to refuse any work that is unsafe, along with the right to know and participate.
Different procedures that are being taken place all collectively depend on the success of a business
from employee’s skills, one significant skill includes effective communication between employees, if
efficient communication skills are not used or effective teamwork, this could cause large effects on a
business. Efficient communication addresses how effectively an individual is understanding the key
concepts and how effectively they are utilising and communicating these to others. Policies are the
overall guidelines and what must be followed whilst procedure is the detailed steps and instructions
of how to complete these policies.
Policies including safe workplace is effective as many workplace areas can be dangerous, for
example in a building sight or confined spaces with many employees in, either way there is a risk of
injury, therefore by implementing safe and effective procedures, this would help to reduce any risks.
Having an effective workplace helps ensure and provide protection for both the company and its
employees, this helps to give guidance for the prevention of accidents and injuries. This is effective
as it helps provide an increased productivity, good service, and quality of work. For Alexandra Palace
there would be a variety of incident prone areas, therefore the company must evaluate that area of
the Palace and either reduce its risk or provide warnings and signs if they cannot change it. For
example, immediate steps around the corner to enter the theatre would need previous signs so that
customers are weary.
Fair treatment to staff is vital in maintaining relationships along with making employees feel
productive, confident, and enthusiastic, otherwise this could affect the company's growth. However,
this should be a moral responsibility for the company to treat its staff, without a genuine trusting
professional relationship, this would risk creating a negative employer brand. The treatment of
employees states a numerous amount under the employment law, this undergoes the different acts
that sets out the legal entitlement’s employees have to certain conduct, benefits, and rights from
their employer. For example, the Employment Rights Act 1996 deals with most of the rights
employees get such as reasonable notice before dismissal, time off rights for parenting and
redundancy. This is significant as this helps to protect workers from wrongdoings by their employers,
whereas if an employee is knowledgeable of this and is being treated fairly and appropriately, this
would form a more trusting relationship and help with the growth and ameliorative company image.
Alexandra Palace must maintain and have a positive representation as this is a widely known public
figure for everyone to visit and enjoy, therefore if this is seen in a negative light, this could spread
and be seriously hard to recover from.
Feedback from customers strongly helps a company in acknowledging what areas need
improvement, whether most feedback is positive this will still give awareness on areas that need
