Two organisations both from the tertiary sector include; Emirates Airlines and Uber. Both
businesses have different development plans on how to maintain and develop their busi-
ness and how their organisational structures help them in development and improving their
operational purpose.

Emirates Airline is a large aviation company run by the government of the UAE. Emirates
Airline has strived over the years to be the best leading aviation company in the world,
their mission statement “We exist to deliver the world's best in-flight experience.”

With the given aims of the airline, they must focus on taking strategic steps towards
achieving said goals. As Emirates is an international airline and has offices all around the
world the company grows largely each year. With over 64,768 employees and over 58 mil-
lion passengers in 2017. Having a good line of communication within the tall structure of
organisation and ensuring the span of control is controllable, Emirates should continue to
expand. In developing the airline, hiring the best, most qualified employees and strong
leaders will spark growth in the company.

Emirates has produced a development goals to help highlight the areas in which the com-
pany exceeds and where it lacks. The organisational structure of Emirates helps them
achieve their goals by allowing them to give departments control over different categories
to develop, improve and expand. As Emirates has a tall organisational structure the de-
partments each have their own objectives but a singular aim with each individual focusing
on their specific responsibility

Emirates constantly reassess their strategic planning, outlining their aims and objectives.
With the influence of the government who oversees the organisation their main aim is to
expand and achieving their mission statement, by improving services, customer service
and employee welfare. In doing so, they use SMART objectives.

Smart objectives, is a acronym for;
● Specific
● Measurable
● Achievable
● Realistic
● Time related
