Wat is e-Health?
Het gebruik van technologie ter ondersteuning of verbetering van de gezondheid en gezondheidszorg,
waarbij patiënten en cliënten in staat zijn regie over hun eigen gezondheid te nemen. O.a. door:
- Implementatie en bekostiging
- Videocontact met thuiszorgmedewerkers
- Telemonitoring van patiënten met chronische aandoeningen
- Preventie
- Hoe zorgpersoneel werkt met e-Health

Doel eHealth  betere gezondheidszorg en gezonder leven door digitale technologie, d.m.v.:
1. Beter delen van informatie
Betere diagnoses stellen, beveiliging van medische gegevens en meer toegang tot medische gegevens
2. Ontwikkelingen in technologie
Verzamelen van veel data, videoconsult, 24/7 controle op gezondheid mogelijk (bij bv. diabetes of hartslag
meten) en de mogelijkheid tot inroepen van hulp vanuit huis
3. Altijd beschikbaar wanneer de patiënt wilt

mHealth: mobile health, oftewel alle e-health toepassingen van zorgdiensten en
gezondheidsinformatie op een mobiel apparaat. Het is dus een onderdeel van e-Health en het
verschil ligt hem in mobiele apparaten of computers die worden gebruikt als elektronisch middel.

Doel m-Health  Zowel de kwaliteit van leven als de kwaliteit van zorg toe laten nemen waarbij de
patiënt meer empowered wordt en er meer samenspraak is tussen de patiënt en zorgpersoneel. Ook
is er hierdoor een meer efficiënte inzet van zorg mogelijk en een betere beschikbaarheid van zorg.

Telemedicine: gezondheidsmonitoring op afstand

e-Health kan worden ingezet als substitutie, waarmee een technologische toepassing ter vervanging
van face-to-face contact wordt ingezet. Of als complementaire interventie waarbij het een aanvulling
van face-to-face contact is.

Er worden 2 indelingen van e-Health interventies aangehaald in de tekst; die van Timmer (2010) en
Schalken (2010). Timmer omschrijft de gebruikte techniek als social media, zorg op afstand, etc. En
Schalken omschrijft het als een hulpvorm met passief, actief of interactieve interventie.

Domotica: Toezichthoudende technologie in thuissituatie, waardoor mensen langer thuis kunnen
blijven wonen, zoals bewegingsdetectie om vallen op te merken.

Ambient technology: een vernieuwde versie van domotica, waarbij er contextinfo wordt
waargenomen in thuissituatie en patiënt coaching kan ontvangen, bv. bij een binnenshuis ongeval.
