, Management review
The m/v Elandsgracht is stationed in Belem, Brazil. The Elandsgracht is awaiting loading, so it can sail
to Antwerpen. The research team has drawn up load plan and corresponding matters like lashing.

The research team has calculated the journey will take around 10 days and 22 hours, but
circumstances might always cause delay or such matters. During this voyage the Elandsgracht will
pass tropical area and end in summer area. The daily consumption can be found in table 4 and extra
fuel and fresh water can be found in table 5.

Table 1 shows the advised shipped cargo and their details.

The total earnings from all of this cargo comes down to €794.344,00, which is the maximum earnings
while not endangering the ship stability and thus safety. With the current calculations the GM comes
down to 1,049949, detailed calculations can be found in chapter 5.

IMBSC and Grain code will applicable. Which means the research team advises to keep the cargo
spaces dry and clean. For the grain the advises is the keep it trimmed and levelled. The research team
also advises to use saucers to make sure the heeling moment is reduced.

For the securing of the cargo the following actions are advised:

 Containers: stored on the deck with firstly container sockets with twist locks and upon stored
on each other secured with lashing rods and turnbuckles
 Machinery: lashed with steel chains and stoppers in four directions
 Bulldozers: lashed with chains and stoppers
 Cable reel: secured with vertical and obliquel lashing
 Yachts: secured by timber on the bottom and lashed with a 25 degree angle
 Reactor: secured with chains and stoppers
 Grain: secured by trimmed and leveled cargo space and covered with tarpaulins or
equivalent. Advice is to store grain in cargo hold three
 Calcium Nitrate: secured in a dry, clean and dust free cargo space and stored away from
other cargo like grain. Advice is to store the Calcium Nitrate in cargo hold one to make sure it
is stored separately from other cargo like the IMDG states.
