, The aim of the experiment was to study the behavior of four-bar linkage mechanisms under
different geometrical conditions and to obtain a better understanding of their functioning.
Furthermore, the experiment involved measuring the dead point angles ϕ and
the
transmission angles β at two positions for two different lengths a: 4” and 6” (Figure 4). A
Working Model simulation was to also be performed in the analysis of the four-bar linkage
mechanism.
The aim of the second half of the experiment was to the study the behavior of a slider-crank
mechanism and a Scotch-Yoke mechanism. The former was studied under different geometrical
conditions.The position, velocity, and acceleration for the two mechanisms was to be
determined from the analysis.

Simple Four-Bar Linkage Mechanisms
A four-bar linkage mechanism is the simplest low-pairing planar mechanism and consists of four
bar-shaped links and four rotating pairs (Figure 1).
