1 Week 4 Assignment: Essay – Play Analysis HUMN -303 Introduction to Humanities Chamberlain University College of Nursing Stephen F. Oyer-Owens ROMEO AND JULIET 2 Romeo and Juliet The play or performance that I have decided to analyze in this week paper is Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet are one of the world most known written tragedies about two young teenagers who fall in love and are driven to death because of their family’s feud. Written by William Shakespeare, it has been stated that Shakespeare must have written the play between 1591 and 1596 (Goff, 2004). This was just surprising a little because most of the time way back in school, watching Romeo and Juliet in different plays you would always see that it was two young Caucasians who played the role of Romeo and Juliet. In the beginning of the play the tone is comic but as you watch deeper and deeper into the performance it goes from being that to hopeless and sorrowful. The mood that is created
