,INTRODUCTION:
I am the IT manager of Full of Beans, a medium-sized company (50 staff) that makes and sells bean
bags of all shapes and sizes. I have identified one major problem with the organisation – the IT
systems and equipment that we use are outdated, slow and unreliable.
The accounting clerk and other administrators are using bespoke (custom-made) systems that
work separately from the sales and buying departments. The production department also uses its
own paper-based system. Delays between each department occur due to no one knowing what the
other departments are doing. This negatively impacts the efficiency of our company.
In order to keep our business competitive, I have explained to the owner of the company that we
will need to make some drastic changes. I am to produce a proposal for new systems with IT-
enabled improvements that will increase the efficiency of the company. In the following slides of
this presentation, I will propose the necessary changes that will modernise Full of Beans.
, HARDWARE:
These are the collection of components that makes up an electronic device/system. The improvement
that I am recommending Full of Beans make is purchasing the Dell OptiPlex 3080 MFF. This is a macro
desktop with a 10th Gen Intel i5 Processor allowing for great power and fast speeds. This improvemen
will fit into the existing system as the high-end processor will make it reliable and efficient as it will be
able to load programs faster and have more programs load at once thanks to the increased RAM.
One impact that this improvement will have is that each desktop will last longer as the machine has be
designed to maximise air intake in order to keep the system cool and make it last a while longer.
The desktop can be bought in bulk and installed across the company's premises. Full of Beans will nee
install 50 new machines for each member of staff, with each machine costing £339.00. The total cost w
be £16,950. While this upgrade will be costly, it will ultimately be worth it as by buying the latest
machinery, the company will have the edge over the competition. Staff should be fine adjusting to the
new computers as it uses the same operating system (Windows 10 Pro) as their current systems.
