P1 Explain the nature of two named physiological disorders.
Physiological disorders are conditions in which an organ in the human body
malfunctions and is not able to perform effectively in the body which causes an
illness in the body, they are a majority of illness and ailments that can occur in the
body
but I will be covering in-depth with Alzheimer’s and heart coronary disease ;
ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE:
Alzheimer’s is a type of dementia) that affects an individual's memory thinking and
their behaviour, symptoms continue to grow until it affects the individual’s day to day
life.
Alzheimer’s disease affects the brain and nervous system, it occurs when nerve cells
in the brain die, the disease gets worse as time goes by.
Alzheimer’s is most common in people over the age of 65.
The risk of Alzheimer’s increases with age, which affects an estimated 1 in 14 people
that are over the age of 65 and 1 in 6 people that are over the age of 80.
1 in every 20 cases of Alzheimer’s affects people aged 40 to 65, this is called early
or young-onset Alzheimer’s disease. As the symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease
progresses slowly, it can be difficult to recognise that an individual has it because
many older people see it as simply a part of getting older. An early diagnosis can
give early and the best chance for a person to plan and prepare for the future as well
as receive quality support and help early from family, NHS, community members.
There is no direct cure for Alzheimer’s diseases but they are medicines available that
can help relieve some of the symptoms.

Various types of support are also provided for people with Alzheimer’s for them to
live independently or make it easy for them to move around in their environment and
to remember daily tasks, sometimes with support or without.
Some also stay in care homes.
Physiological treatment such as cognitive stimulation therapy can help to support
memory and problem-solving skills and language ability.
People with Alzheimer’s can live for several years after they develop the symptoms,
but it also varies from person to person.
There is no direct cause or Alzheimer’s disease but they are certain things an
individual can do to prevent themselves from the habit of
● Stop smoking and reduce alcohol intake.
● Eating a healthy and well-balanced diet and also maintaining a healthy
weight.
● Ensuring you stay fit and mentally active.
