This essay discusses the global hospitality organization Starbucks and which type of
management and leadership is using for functional business progress toward the development
of sustainability. The argument focuses on the effectiveness of the identification of
leadership methods for the Starbucks organization and which practices the company applies
to tackle global warming and climate change. This article provides a unique perspective
regarding the green managers and the development of sustainable manager for the
organization and why Starbuck has considered as a pleasant place to work described from the
point of employees’ view and interdependently respected as a good brand from the society.
This essay contributes a critique of the argument made by the author in support of the social,
economic and environmental sustainability.

The green manager definition reflects the management aiming business activities toward the
preservation of the environment and the conservation of biodiversity. Therefore, green
management is aware of defending the environment by implementing sustainable production
practices, which consequently reducing the impact of pollution and waste (Mind Tools,
2020). According to sustainable development, executions should reflect on how firms and
the economies develop following the accomplishment for their objectives without damaging
natural resources for future generations (Your Article Library, n.d.). Moreover, the
sustainable development if implemented could prevent the placing of natural disasters that
have taken in place in 2019 such as; The Australian bush fire, the Typhoon Hagibis in Japan,
and Floods in India etcetera. (Mack, 2019).

The assumption seemed that although the concept of sustainable development introduced in
1980 from the well-known international identity such as; the IUCN, UNEP and the WWF

(Portals, n. d.), the governments have been concentrating more in assembling the economic
growth in term of financial capital return than balancing the economies for the developing
countries. The indication of disparity of wealth among the population in developing countries
occurred by failing on providing sustainability practices resulting in social iniquity and the
ecosystem damaged. It has observed that economic growth should be considered in the
context of the impact of growth on the environment. Nevertheless, practices toward the
environment protection were published a while ago; it seems not yet well regulated by the
government authorities whose should applying such practices as a mandatory for the
international law (Mabsera, 2016).

However, the United Nation is working toward sustainable development goals acquiring for
some developing countries the well-being for the youth incurred by facilitating opportunities
for the youngest accessing in education and vocational training. Accessibility of education
and better nutrition for countries such as Brazil, Ghana and Pakistan not only improved their
economy obtained by reaching to the entry for education and professional work but it
minimised the gender inequality gap by supporting equally chances for both genders
(Boyden, 2019). The term of sustainable development can be interpreted, such as economic
growth positively and respectively, with the improvement of social security and the reduction
of crime and drug trafficking (Pessoa, 2019).

Parallel to Elkington who recommend that nowadays businesses should not only consider the
economy thrive alone but it supposed to accompanied with a worth outcome regards the
environment and the social wellness (Niaki and Nonino,2017). Mabsera (2016) reinforce the
debate of the significant investment in green HRM application where can reinforce the
management activities against employees whose deliver absent practices for sustainability
endings (Paille, 2017). Although, Arranz, (2019) emerges with the need of developing
policies for the eco-innovation in Spain where firms seem not taking the matter seriously
since the lacking in knowledge which is questioning the meaning for the development in
innovation for the energy-saving and the reduction of pollution.
