In this assignment, I will analyse how political, legal and social factors have
impacted on the Coca Cola PLC and the NHS.

Legal:

Organisations have to pay heed to many laws which are issued or
updated. Recently, the government has implied several
immigration laws, which limit the number of people entering the UK, due
to visa restrictions. This has not been in favour of the NHS as the
organisation required the medical expertise of many doctors, surgeons
and medical practitioners from abroad, mainly India. However, now, due
to the introduction and enforcement of such strict laws, the doctors
cannot come to the UK to work anymore. As a result, the NHS has had to
adapt to this change by employing more inland doctors to keep on
providing health services to the general public.

The same occurs for the Coca Cola PLC. The company needs the skill and
know-how of many immigrants to run their business efficiently. However,
due to the alterations in law, these employees have either moved back to
their countries, or others cannot enter the country anymore.
Consequently, the company might have had to stick to employing those
who are less susceptible to be affected by these laws. This may be a
disadvantage as the newly employed staffs might not be as proficient as
the old ones and might not have as much experience…

Another factor to be considered is the enforcement of ‘health and safety’
rules in the workplace. Over the years, the Coca Cola PLC has become
increasingly concerned about the well-being of their workers. This is
because; a healthy work force will lead to workers performing more
efficiently and avoiding accidents in the organisation, which may slow
processes down. Consequently, the Coca Cola PLC has introduced "The
Coca-Cola Health & Safety Management System", to cope with the law.

In order to comply with this particular law, the Coca Cola PLC regularly
provides preventative health programmes such as diabetes and cancer
screening and cholesterol and blood pressure monitoring. Coca Cola H&S
system also provides lifestyle and nutrition advice, stress management
and fitness activities. There are also behavioural codes that have to be
followed on the premises. These initiatives altogether give a helping help
in reducing onsite accidents and health problems.

The NHS also abides by this law by ensuring the health, safety and welfare
of its employees and patients. The employees are given information,
instructions and training to enable the safe performance of work-related
activities. Being a health organisation itself, it has to abide by strict
