Task 1:
a) Explain the effects of changes in the economic environment on a selected business.
1.0 In the following report, I am going to explain the likely effect of variations in the economic
environment on a selected business, by examining the business cycle and indicators that describe it,
such as inflation, employment, growth and international trade. I will also choose an appropriate
business examples in order to examine the impact of any changes.
2.0 In order to complete the assignment I will use different web resources, which will be stated in the
reference section of my report. These will include sources of data for both of my business examples
as well as sources with data about current economic state of the UK and some other countries.
Business textbook is another source of useful guidelines and information I will use. In order to cover
required criteria, while completing this report I will be looking at Edexcel Unit specification
document and assignment brief produced by my tutor.

3.0 Currys Pc World
Currys is a British electrical retailer operating in the UK and Ireland and is owned by Dixos
Carphone. First Curry’s store was founded in 1884. It specialises in selling home electronics
and household appliances, with 295
superstores and 73 high street stores.
PC World is one of the United Kingdom's
largest retail chains of mass-market
computers superstores. Established in
1991, it became part of Dixons
Carphone in 1993.
Currys and PC World stores have recently
been rebranded as Currys PC World in
some stores, with the two store formats
merged into one. Thu’s many of Dixon’s
physical stores in the UK now trade under
the combined Currys PC World brand.
3.1 Jaguar Land Rover
Jaguar Land Rover Automotive PLC is a
British multinational automotive
company headquartered in Whitley, Coventry,
United Kingdom. Its principal activity is tohe
design, development, manufacture and sale of
vehicles bearing the Jaguar and Land
Rover (including Range Rover) marques.
The Jaguar Cars and Land Rover businesses were
first united under a single entity by Ford Motor
Company in 2002. In 2008, the Jaguar Land
Rover company was established when Tata
Motors acquired the Jaguar and Land Rover businesses from Ford.

an Indian multinational automotive manufacturing company headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra,

vehicle manufacturing company, fourth-largest truck manufacturer, and second-largest bus
