“The Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry”
This pharmaceutical industry, that founded in 1891, it is a trade association for over 120 companies that are
in the UK, which produces medicines for humans. This organisation involves with developing, researching,
manufacturing, and supplying about 80% of medicines that are prescribed with the NHS (National Health
Service)
What this organization focuses on and do? (Their main activities):
• Developing the access to new vaccines and medicines.
• Research and use new medicines, and currently in research for covid-19 vaccines and cure.
• Supplying cutting edge treatments, that save and improve people’s lives.
• Working on getting a thriving environment for the medicine discovery, to make the UK the best place for developing
new drugs and medicines as well as vaccines.
• Demonstrating a high ethical standard, by having an enhancing reputation so that the community would always expect
the best from them.
• Having a very experienced members, and their experiences by saving millions of lives.

, Identifying two scientific based environments:
1. The scientific organization laboratory
(The Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry)
It is a drug and medicine company, that works industrially by developing,
manufacturing researching drugs. The laboratory of the scientific organization
focuses on researching, developing and discovering drugs and medicines. The
laboratory consists of academic and specific equipment, machines and materials,
that are only found in the pharmaceutical laboratories. The scientists use them
in their researches to develop and use medicines and drugs.
2. Academic laboratory (college laboratory)
It is a laboratory that take place at the educational building; that allow the
students to observe and practice with experiments, using the laboratory materials.
The educational academic labs are limited, which means it only consists of the
equipment that used in the experiments, and the labs are not big and complicated,
they are used to teach the students how to observe their knowledge and improve
their scientific knowledge by applying it in the lab.

, The potential similar hazards in both environment:
The research & development lab and the academic college lab have similar hazards, including:
1. Corrosive Chemical: this is a similar hazards that is found in both environment; both labs have similar corrosive chemicals, which are quite dangerous. For example; during experiments in both labs,
if the student or the workers spill a hazardous chemicals on their hands, they will have skin irritant, and could cause their eyes to burn if they touch their eyes with their hands, this is dangerous as it
causes problem to our health. And if someone in the lab sniff a dangerous chemical, it can damage their lungs and cause serious problems to their body.
Health & safety measures:. Waring the PPE that includes gloves and googles, avoiding smelling chemicals, only using hands and waving it above the chemical in the air to smell it in the air, and avoiding
splitting chemicals would prevent any incidents.
2. Heating mentals: this is found in both labs, is It includes heating materials that are used to heat and boil the chemicals, when we turn these materials, they will heat up, and if someone in the lab does
not know that it is on or not, they could touch it, and this cause burns, and also these heating mentals work by electricity, so it is dangerous.
Health & safety measures: if the heating mentals are on in the lab, everyone that uses the lab must be aware, and be careful while using them.
3. Volatile chemicals: both labs have volatile chemicals, which once they open it, they go everywhere, in the air, and we could inhale these volatile chemicals, which are toxic and cause damage to our
body.
Health & safety measures: when the labs use volatile chemicals, face masks or specific PPE for covering our nose and mouse must be worn (if the volatile chemicals are highly toxic and hazardous) And
everyone in the lab must not sniff the chemical directly.
4. Breakable and glass; the both labs always experience mistakes, breaking glasses or beakers is a common thing that happens in the lab, a broken glass can cut through our skin if we do not be careful.
Health & safety measures: everyone in the lab must be careful while using breakable materials, when they break, they must clean the area carefully and throw the broken glass in specific boxes(glass
waste) to not cause injury to anyone, as the normal bin will be dangerous for everyone(especially cleaners) if a glass will be thrown in it, and then cleaners come to clean, they would cut themselves as
they come with contact with the broken glass, it is very important to wear PPE and working carefully in place.
5. Open flames: this includes fire and flames in the lab, open flames while experimenting is quite dangerous, basically it burn us if we make a wrong move, especially girls when their hair catches fire, it
is very hard to extinguish it as fire is fast and eventually it will cause burns and damage. or if the fire make contact with a flammable materials, it can also cause the whole lab to burn and even explode.
Health & safety measures: hair must be tied up without dangling clothes, any mistake could cause a serious burns and maybe explosion in the lab. When flames are used, they must be in control and
signs must be put to aware the other people around. Any other materials that could cause fire must be labelled and not mixed with other material that could cause a reaction and a consequence of fire or
burn. There must be a fresh air source such as an open window when we have open flame in the lab.
6. Electric hazards: electricity is an important use both laboratory, such lighting and electric materials. if students or workers pour liquids or water into the electric sockets, this would cause serious
damages to the system of electricity and can cause fire. And if someone in the lab get into contact with the live wires, it can cause electric shock.
|Health & safety measures: Everyone in the lab must be aware of the danger of electricity, and to make ensure that everyone in the lab is using the proper and not broken electric gadgets. There should
be inspections of the electric system in the working environment, and to ensure that the electric wiring system does not have any faults.
