This Test Bank provides multiple-choice, true or false and essay questions for Economics for
Today, Fifth Edition. It is prepared by the text author to match the text. Chapters containing the
greatest number of questions are chapters most heavily tested by most instructors. These
questions are continuously being tested in the classroom and revised by the author. A brief listing
of the features are as follows:
Topic References
The test bank is easy to reference by using the topics listed above each question. An objective of
the test bank is to include at least some questions for each topic introduced in the chapters.
Difficulty of Question Categories
Following the topic reference, each question is classified according to one of three degrees of
difficulty: E = Easy, M = Medium, or D = Difficult. A difficulty rank of E designates that at
least 90 percent of the students should answer this question correctly. A difficulty rank of M
means that approximately 70 percent to 89 percent of the students should answer this question
correctly. A difficulty rank of D denotes that less than 70 percent of the students should answer
the question correctly.
Type of Question Categories
Each question is also classified according to one of the following three types of comprehension
required to answer the question:
RE = Recall of a definition or fact. These are straight-forward questions that can be
answered by memory without analysis.
SA = Simple analysis of material. These questions require the student to understand a
single concept and then reach the correct conclusion based on that concept.
CA = Complex analysis of material. These questions require the student to understand
more challenging analysis of concepts.
