Unit 11 M1 D1 Health and Social Care

M1 – Assess the likely immediate effects of two different forms of abuse on the
health and wellbeing of adults:

D1 – Evaluate the potential long-term effects of these two types of abuse on
the health and wellbeing of adults:

In this assignment I will assess the likely immediate effects of two different forms of
abuse and I will also evaluate long-term effects of these two types of abuse on the
health and wellbeing of adults.

First one of the types of the abuses which I am going to assess is the physical abuse;
this involves any contact with the individual on the purpose which causes harm, injury
or damage to the body of the individual. A few examples could be, punching, pulling,
slapping and more.

The immediate effects of physical abuse could be things such as cuts which are then
going to be transformed into a bruise as they are direct and appear a very short time
after the physical contact has been accomplished. The immediate effects if any type
of physical abuse could involve the bruises and they are visible, this suggests that if
there is required proof of the individual being has been physically abused. This is
useful in order to prove that harm has been caused to the safeguarding worker, which
is then going to protect the victim from further attempts of physical damage.

There are also issues with these immediate effects; they can turn into long-term
effects which could increase chances of the risk of getting other issues in the further
future of the individual. These long-term effects could impact the life of the
individual. Things which can be named as long-term from the physical abuse which
the individual has previously experienced, these could be things like stress, could also
cause chest pain and more serious issues like heart attacks. Other factors like
stomach issues and also things like broken bones are going to take a lot longer to
heal than a bruise.

Another type of abuse is the domestic abuse; this usually takes place in a family
between two people in the relationship. This type of abuse could include anything
like, physical, emotional, psychological, sexual and financial abuse. There are a few
examples of this abuse which are, kicking, throwing objects, threatening, controlling
behaviour.

There are immediate effects of the type of abuse; these could be lack of food and
sleep. There are other things like stress and continues fear of doing something wrong.
Things like bruises, broken bones, financial problems, withdrawal from the social life.
People who have been threatened are less likely to go out as they would need to
make sure that whatever they have to do every day they need to make to perfection.

This could be led to the long-term effects, someone who is experiencing a domestic
abusive relationship they might have trouble in sleeping, constant fear of certain
people. The individual who have been abused is going to experience financial
problems for a while until they are able to stabilise, this means that the social worker
might would need to help the victim to stabilise their life.
