Unit 14: Assignment 2

Aspects of Employment Law

P4 - Identify the rights and responsibilities of the employer and employees in
a selected business organisation.
And
M2 - Analyse rights and responsibilities of employees and employer in a
selected business organisation.

It is important that Tesco is aware of their rights and responsibilities so their employees are
kept safe in the work environment. It is also important that the employees understand that
they are obliged to follow the terms they agreed to with Tesco when they accepted
employment. As an employee, they do have their own rights that need to be considered.

ensure that they are on the right type of contract so the needs of both the employee and
Tesco are fulfilled. Some employees may have certain days they are unable to work due to
other commitments so it is important that Tesco works alongside the employee to work
around these issues. The solution should be stated within the contract. Once the contract
has been given and an agreement has been made, the employee needs to stick to what is
stated within their contract.

Tesco’s would need to take into consideration their employees needs when it comes to
working on Sunday. Some employees may have religious reasons or family commitments
that would prevent them from working on a Sunday. Tesco would need to work around this
and ensure the details are included within their contract. The Working Time Regulation Act
1998 would support this as it allows employees to turn down work if they believe they are
