2.1 The use of microscopy to observe and investigate different types of cell

Light Microscope: A compound light microscope has two lenses- the objective
lens placed near the specimen, and an eyepiece objective lens through which
the specimen is viewed through. The objective lens produces a magnified image,
which is magnified again by the eyepiece lens.

Rules to a scientific drawing:
➔ Title
➔ State magnification
➔ Use a sharp pencil
➔ Use at least 50% of the paper
➔ Do not shade
➔ Label lines drawn with ruler and no arrow

2.2 Use of magnification formula

larger the image is than the
actual size of the object being

Eyepiece graticule is a glass disc marked with a scale 1-100 with no units
Calibrating x4 :

1. Put the stage micrometre in place and the eyepiece graticule in the
eyepiece
2. Get the scale on the stage micrometre in clear focus
3.Align the micrometre scale with the scale in the eyepiece and take a reading
from the two scales

microscopes

Sample Preparation:
Dry Mount Viewing hair, pollen, dust and parts of insect and muscle
tissue.
