As a BCom Honours student at the University of South Africa (Unisa), your
Change Management Module lecturer, Prof N Fetola, has asked you to write a 2
000-word essay on organisational change based on the Allianz Direct case
study. To write and submit an academically sound essay that blends theory and
practice, Prof Fetola has asked you to use the prescribed study materials as
your primary source of theory and publicly available information to connect
theory and practice. However, to expand your knowledge and understanding of
the phenomenon you are writing on, Prof Fetola has asked you to identify and
make use of relevant supplementary material that can be accessed and
downloaded from the Unisa library. In your essay, given the nature and
magnitude of the change initiative, identify and critically discuss the following:

i. two best methods Allianz Direct should employ in gathering relevant data
(information) related to the initiative; and

The information-gathering stage of the process begins with a series of planning
decisions relating to which methods of data collection to employ and whether data
can/should be collected from every possible source or from a representative sample
of the total population of sources (Hayes, 2018). A number of different techniques or
methods can be used to collect information, including individual and group interviews,
questionnaires, projective methods such as drawings and collages, observation, and
the use of secondary data, some-times referred to as ‘unobtrusive measures. Hoosen
(2023) provide a useful discussion of most of these methods. Their main features are
summarized below, including the use of sampling.

Questionnaires

Questionnaires are sometimes referred to as ‘self-administered interviews (Garavan,
et al., 2020). They are designed to obtain information by asking organizational
members (and others) a predetermined set of questions about their perceptions,
judgements and feelings. Using questionnaires to collect diagnostic information can
be more cost-effective than using interviews, because they can be administered
