Systems of the human body

In this report I will be describing ten different systems inside of the body, the report will
include illustrated diagrams of each body system, the structure of the body system and the
function the system has inside of the body. The body systems include the digestive system,
the endocrine system, the cardiovascular system, the respiratory system, the renal system,
the nervous system, the reproductive system, the lymphatic system, the skeletal system and
the immune system.

The digestive system.

(NIH 2018)

The first organ in the digestive system is the salivary glands, there are three different pairs of big
salivary glands and multiple smaller ones that create saliva inside of the mouth which mixes with
food. Saliva is made up of water, mucus and enzyme amylase. The reason for salivary gland is to
secrete saliva to keep the mouth and other organs in the digestive system damp. The salivary glands
use salivary amylase to break down carbohydrates and makes the oesophagus slippery making it
easier for the food to pass down.

The second organ in the digestive system is the pharynx, the pharynx is part of the throat and is
found behind the nasal cavity and mouth and above our oesophagus and larynx. The pharynx is split
into three different parts the laryngopharynx, the oropharynx and the nasopharynx. The point of the
pharynx in the digestive system is their muscular walls help in the swallowing of food process and is
used as a passageway for food from the mouth to the oesophagus.

The next organ is the oesophagus, this organ is a tube of muscle which can be up to eight inches long
that connects the pharynx to the stomach. The oesophagus in encased in a pink, damp tissue called
mucosa. The oesophagus if found in front of the spine but behind the heart and windpipe. ( Hoffman,
MD, M 2014) The oesophagus is a vital piece of the gastrointestinal tract and is a tube for food and
liquids that have been swallowed to be transported from the pharynx to the stomach.

During digestion the food passes from the oesophagus to the stomach, it passes through a muscular
valve called a lower oesophageal sphincter, the stomach is lined with the edges of muscle tissue
