Technology is a vast subject, but this paper will delve into the advancements in
technology from 1920 to 2000 related to society and politics. As technology has advanced, there

advancements have changed how we access information and how quickly we can access and gain
new knowledge about the various subject matter.
1920’s
The 1920s was the age of electricity. Homes in America, especially in the larger cities,
were powered by electricity. Access to electricity in the 1920's provided Americans with the
power required to run new labor-saving devices such as refrigerators, washing machines, radios,
phonographs, electric razors and irons, and vacuum cleaners (Tennant, 2020). As the technology
advancements in the political arena, the significant change was women gaining the right to vote.
Another significant milestone in politics was the constitution was amended twice in that year. All
the new technology created more spare time for people, and prosperity led to increased
consumption. Adding to this consumption was the expansion of credit.
Politically The growth of government activities during World War I was reversed during
the 1920s. Government efforts to break-up trusts and regulate business practices gave way to a
new emphasis on partnerships between government and business (Digital History, 2019).
1950’s
The 1950s were full of unique new technologies like the credit card, power steering, and
black box flight recorder. Diners Club founder Frank McNamara invented the Diners Club credit
