Introduction
The SVDC (Spring Valley Detention Center) is experiencing challenges and problems
that negatively affect the detention center's operation because its Chief Executive does not report
for work. The organization has been negatively affected since all the constituents at the detention
center face challenges while executing their tasks. Furthermore, the correctional officers are
faced with the challenge of lack of communication from their warden while supervisors are
reluctant in decision-making. However, issues SVDC's issues can be solved and addressed by
applying high tech and soft-touch trends, enhancing communication at SVDC.
Nonetheless, the essay will describe how an organization without its chief executive
affects the detention center's overall operation. The paper will identify the constituents of SVDC
and how they are affected by the detention center's current situation. Nevertheless, the essay will
focus on the outcome or results of supervisors concentrate on the process rather than people. The
paper will find the trends in Ch.3 of MPO (Managing Police Organizations) which need to be

the organization (Hollander, 2015). Besides, it will hurt decision making. Notably, an
organization will lack effective structures that enhance proper and vital decision making. Also,
inadequate communication in the organization means ineffective decisions, which can hurt and
affect its overall operation. Other sources can provide leadership if supported, trained, and
empowered. For instance, deputy wardens, unit managers, correctional officers, and supervisors
can provide effective leadership if well kept, trained, and licensed.
Who are constituents of the detention center? How are they affected by the situation?
The constituents at the SVDC include deputy wardens, unit managers, correctional
officers, line supervisors, and inmates. The employees such as unit managers and wardens feel
tied and lonely without the chief executive's support. More so, the situation has made line
supervisors reluctant in decision-making. They have focused on addressing process rather than
issues affecting employees because they feel inadequate in handling employees' problems once
held by the warden (Hollander, 2015). Nonetheless, the warden's lack of communication has
dramatically affected correctional officers, with the inmates' issues being ignored. Also, the
situation has affected inmates where some have committed suicide while others have an
accidental fall.
