Introduction
The city of Smallville has requested that Gail Industries conduct an information system’s
review. The review is necessary to satisfy SCOPE’s contract. As IT Manager I, Donna Gillette
Willis will be leading the assessment to determine if the systems currently meet and will continue
to meet the organization’s objectives. The review will begin with an evaluation of systems that
are presently in place. The review will include the systems operations and maintenance practices.
There will also be a determination of whether SLA’s from both internal and external service
provider is defined and managed. Upon finalizing the evaluation, recommendations will be made
to Smallville to assist with their ever-evolving technology demands.

Smallville’s technology and business strategies must be aligned. However, with ever-
evolving technology, way too often, existing technology hinders advancement for the mere
reason it is outdated and ineffectively used. Gail is also concerned that the organization may
implement a new tool that neglects to align with Smallville’s priorities. Therefore, a technology
assessment will enable Gail to identify unaware of flaws in the organization’s operations.
Due to the nature of SCOPE’s business and future expansion, the proper controls must be
put into place to reduce SCOPE’s overall risks incrementally. Protecting SCOPE’s assets
demands an accurate understanding of the risks the organization faces and the available controls
that can be utilized to reduce these risks. Controls (tools) that have (current controls) and will
(future controls) be implemented to safeguard against security risks that threaten SCOPE’s
physical property, information, computer systems, and network.
