Question 1: Support the selection by explaining the approach, describing which of the five
(5) environmental positions you espouse, and how the approach and positions relate to key
ethical theories we have studied
As a mid-size manufacturer, the best approaches as a company would be to express
corporate responsibility and accelerate and innovate. With the current advances in technology
today, companies can do less damage to the environment while still running their businesses and
being morally responsible in protecting the environment (Saylor, 2016, p. 653-654).
Environmental ethics in week seven was defined as the philosophical relationship between
human and the environment and how the actions of human have a great significance and not only
how we see the world, but how we treat it. As humans, there is no right in destroying the
wonders of the earth in order to put power plants and pollute the air with gases and chemicals
with manufacturing warehouses. The act of destruction on natural resources, habitats for animals,
plants is all morally unethical (Help Save Nature, n.d.), and companies should be held
responsible for such act. With the help of faster innovation processes, we can resolve
environmental issues created by humans and reverse them at a faster rate. (Saylor, 2016, p. 650).
Looking at the bigger picture for companies, manufacturing can be reversed in order to
make production environmentally friendly with sustainable packaging and sourcing locally. In
doing this, four of the five environmental positions of acting for the sake of Earth itself and for
current/future human and animal wildlife are all as equally as important. Plants, animals, and
humans are all a part of the ecosystem and should be accounted for when thinking of why the
environment should be taken care of (Saylor, 2016, p. 641-646). In the eyes of utilitarianism,
there is happiness from all living things when the environment is taken care of and a prime
example is simply walking, breathing and smelling fresh air that is not polluted by gases which
can destroy natural habitats, resources and grow human health concerns. Today, we are taking a
