In health and social care it is important not to discriminate someone
whiles using health and social care service as in health and social care
professional they must ensure that someone keeps their self-esteem or if
its low help It grow to a higher self-esteem that’s why discrimination must
not be in the health and social care industry, because discriminating a
health and social care users can lead to people losing their self-esteem
and someone self-esteem can experience negative self-identity which also
could lead to depression for them. Sometimes, usually some people could
have already had a low-esteem before they started using the health and
social care service.
Discrimination can happen by many ways whether direct or indirect in
health and social care without knowing. Some of these are,
Age
Disability
Se
Sexual orientation
Race
Religion/belief
Gender resignation
Marriage or civil partnership and so one
Example of discrimination in health and social care is,
Staff ignoring or isolating service users because of their disabilities, for
example, a care worker in a day centre not bothering to talk to a service
user who has a hearing disability as he is difficult to understand. This is an
indirect discrimination because the staff isn’t showing the service users
that she doesn’t want to be near them because of their disability but it is
obvious for the service users to see that they’re being ignored.
If I was a member of staff I would try my best and not make the service
users with disability feel ad human being as well not treating them
differently from other because of their disability keeping their dignity and
pride

Staff using inappropriate racial terms, for example, a GP in a health centre
referring to a patient as a gypsy rather than a traveller, people saying this
will leave them feeling a loss or lack of respect because members are
changing his travel to a different thing which they might have been
