punishment and justice. An igone and Bill B dd, Sailo and O he S o ie have similar views on

punishments and crime, but the difference lies in the justice s stems and laws. An igone has two

justice s stems conflicting with each other while Bill B dd, Sailo and O he S o ie have onl

one justice s stem. The judicial s stem is different between the two texts, however the two texts

are similar with authoritarian views on the laws.

In both texts, Antigone and Bill are punished for crimes that went against the state

policies, however Antigone onl committed a crime based on the man-made laws. It can be

argued that Antigone has not committed a crime based on divine law, but since Creon is the ruler,

he is able to prove that Antigone is a criminal for going against his laws the laws he finds

valuable and right . Similarl , Bill is falsel accused of mutin and ever one knows he is

innocent, but there is onl one set of laws he must follow or else the order of the state will be

corrupt. Order of the state being the regime and laws the sailors must follow. So, Bill is seen as

mentions how Bill can not be entirel guilt for killing Claggart since he is envious of Bill and
