Dracula by Bram Stoker
,Before reading:
I think that Dracula will be about a vampire that can turn into a bat.
He probably will be killing people. I don’t know why yet but I will find
that out if I read the book. I also think that the book will be about his
life so it will be in the I-person.
,Chapter 1:
The starter of a daily base were going. The train is an hour late,
going for dinner etc. The next evening it started again with the train
being an hour late but this time it was a beautiful surrounding we
were heading. Also there were a lot of people from different
countries but you could tell where they were from.
He got a letter from Dracula were in he could read that he could stay
in a hotel in the land (Carpathians) of an elderly man. He came from
England and the man had said: I trust that your journey from London
has been a happy one, and that you will enjoy your stay in my
beautiful land. (page 6)
As the man wanted to leave the wife of the elderly man came in to
ask if he would leave. He said he would, but the elderly woman did
not like that because it is the eve of St. George’s Day. But eventually
he chose to leave. As he was on his way to leave his driver and the
landlady were talking, but it was about him as he could hear. They
said things like: “Ordog”—Satan, “pokol”—hell, “stregoica”—witch,
“vrolok” and “vlkoslak”—both of which mean the same thing, one
being Slovak and the other Servian for something that is either were-
wolf or vampire. (page 7)
On his way in the wagon with horses for it did he get a couple gifts
from other passengers which were given in fear or in another odd
way. Later there came out of the dark another traveler which looked
a little weird, because he had red lips, sharp-looking teeth and was
as white as ivory. That same man took Jonathan and said he needed
to take care of him from Count Dracula. They were surrounded by
wolves but the man scared them, and they moved on.
, Chapter 2:
The ride stopped next to an old door with iron nails in it. It turned out
to be the castle of a certain person that we all know, it was Count
Dracula himself. Dracula said that Jonathan was is guest and he
should not have to leave. He gave food and diner a place to sleep, it
was everything you could get. In his room there was a door to
another place. What was behind was a sort of library with English
books in it about everything. The Count wanted to know all the
things about the place where he was from and the surroundings.
The next day Jonathan was writing but he wrote that there was
something strange about the place going on. Dracula was that
morning behind Jonathan, but there was a weird thing about it,
because Jonathan couldn’t see his reflection! Jonathan accidentally
cut himself while he was in shock. And Dracula knew there was
something up with him so he picked him up at his throat. But
Dracula only said: “take care how you cut yourself. It is more
dangerous than you think in this country.” (page 17) He never saw
Dracula eat or drink, so that made him more suspicious. Beside that
the castle where he was in was on top of a cliff that was like a
thousand meters high. Jonathan said: The castle is a veritable prison,
and I am a prisoner! (page 18)
