Companies are employing an astounding total of 218 million children between the ages
of five and seventeen worldwide (Maki, 2018). One of the companies that utilizes child labor
within their third-party cocoa farms is Nestlé. Due to the continued success that Nestlé has as a
company, it is seemingly a good time to eliminate this unethical practice from the company as a
whole. Part of Nestlé’s mission statement includes, “enhancing quality of life and contributing to
a healthier future,” (Nestlé, n.d.). With that being said, ending child labor within Nestlé would
really allow them to live out this part of their mission statement.
